Toddler killed after car runs over her at gas station in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

NEWS:

A 2-year-old girl was killed after a seven-seat car ran over her at a gas station in the Bàu Bàng Industrial Park area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The accident happened at about 10 a.m. on April 22, 2026, at a gas station near the intersection of NC Road and D7 Road in Bến Cát ward. The area was formerly part of Lai Hưng commune in Bàu Bàng district, Bình Dương province, before local administrative changes.

The driver was identified in Vietnamese reports by the initials P.C.D., 48, from Chánh Hiệp ward in Ho Chi Minh City. He was driving a seven-seat car into the gas station when the vehicle ran over the child.

The girl, identified in reports by the initials N.N.P.A., was 2 years old and was described as the daughter of the gas station manager. Reports said she was lying or playing on the concrete floor of the station when the vehicle entered the forecourt.

Security camera footage recorded the accident. The video shows the child on the ground in the gas station area before the car moves into the station and passes over her. People at the station then rush toward the vehicle and the child.

Later reporting said the child was in an area between the fuel pumps and the station’s office building, with no adult immediately next to her at the moment shown in the footage. One witness said people only noticed what had happened after the car had already run over the child.

Workers and nearby people shouted for the driver to stop and tried to help the girl. Some reports said she was taken for emergency assistance, while others said she died at the scene because of severe injuries. All reviewed accounts agree that she did not survive.

Police from Bến Cát responded after receiving the report. Investigators extracted security camera footage, took witness statements and examined the scene. The gas station temporarily stopped operating while authorities carried out the scene investigation.

A later report said the driver initially told authorities he did not see the child. No public charging decision, arrest announcement or final investigative conclusion was found in the available reports reviewed for this article.

The reviewed reports did not establish alcohol use, speeding, mechanical failure or any deliberate act. The case was being handled as a traffic accident, with the cause under police review based on the camera footage, witness statements and scene examination.
