Bangladesh Army tank explosion kills two soldiers during live-fire exercise.

Two Bangladesh Army soldiers were killed and an officer was seriously injured on September 9 after a tank exploded during a live-fire exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram.

The military’s Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate said the accident occurred while the tank was firing. The injured officer was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka for specialized treatment.

The soldiers killed were later identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, 30, and Tasnim Rifat, 29. The military has not publicly identified the tank model, the ammunition manufacturer or the technical cause of the blast.

An investigation is underway. Video from the exercise shows the tank on the range moments before a sudden explosion, with a person appearing to be thrown from the turret area.
