Rehan had a double whammy of electrocution leading to drowning. He had a cardiac arrest and lost consciousness. It was the presence of the doctors and nurses in church that were able to provide with immediate resuscitation. He was pulseless for over 40 minutes. Rehan was transferred to Pune Adventist hospital where as per government rules the incident was registered by the hospital as a police case.

He was stabilised and transferred to a larger hospital where he was put on a ventilator. His clinical condition was critical with the heart functioning at 14% and water in one of his lungs. His condition deteriorated with early signs of multi-organ failure. 24 hours later Rehan regained consciousness. He is still in a critical condition but is showing signs of improvement. His renal function is improving and his heart is functioning at about 55%.

His neurological status shows evidence of recent memory amnesia He does not fully recognise his parents or sister.
