A traditional sub-chief in Ayanfuri, Ghana, died after accidentally firing a pump-action gun into his abdomen during a funeral display, an incident captured in a widely circulated video.
The victim was identified as Nana Kwabena Okyere, the Mmratehene of the Ayanfuri Traditional Area in Ghana’s Central Region. Reports based on a police situational record said the shooting occurred during funeral rites for Abusua Panyin Akwasi Kwateng.
The video shows Okyere holding the firearm during the gathering. He brings the barrel toward his abdomen, and the weapon discharges at close range. The recording directly establishes that the gun was in his hands and aimed toward his body when the shot occurred.
