An attack with an explosive device on the road connecting Miranda to Corinto, north of Cauca, Colombia, caused the death of a 12-year-old child and serious injuries to two adults. The incident occurred at around 14.00. on Friday, May 17, while the victims were riding a motorbike along the road near the Guatemala sector, before the Güengüe bridge.
The first hypothesis suggests that the armed group responsible for the attack had left the explosives on the road, with the aim of attacking public forces. According to local authorities, “the minor died at the scene due to serious injuries.”
Images from the blast site showed three people lying on the ground, including a child; The two adults were immediately transferred to a city hospital where they are currently receiving medical treatment and will later be transferred to a more complex clinic in the city of Cali.
