Man falls to his death from Jalan Ampang tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
NEWS:
A man fell to his death from a high-rise tower on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday afternoon, May 9, 2026, in an incident captured by a driver’s dashboard camera.
The recording shows the man falling rapidly from the building toward street level while vehicles move along the road in front of the tower. The fall takes place directly within the dashcam’s field of view. The footage confirms that a person fell from the high-rise, but it does not show what happened inside the building before he became visible outside.
The driver who recorded the incident said he was passing the tower shortly after 1 p.m. when the fall occurred. He said the Zuhr call to prayer was sounding at the time and that witnessing the fall directly in front of him left him physically shaken. The recording was later posted online and circulated widely.
The witness identified the location as HSC Tower on Jalan Ampang. Police publicly described the location more generally as a tower on Jalan Ampang and did not confirm a specific floor, room, balcony, rooftop, pool deck, or other point from which the man fell.
Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Annas Sulaiman confirmed that police received a report concerning the incident. The confirmation was issued on Sunday, May 10, one day after the fatal fall. Police classified the death as a sudden death report.
Initial online discussion described the deceased only as a foreign national. Annas later identified him as a male Chinese national. Authorities did not publicly release his name, age, occupation, immigration status, or reason for being inside the building. Police also did not disclose whether he was a hotel guest, employee, resident, visitor, contractor, or worker at the property.
The sudden death classification confirms that police opened a formal record concerning the fatality, but it does not determine how or why the fall occurred. It is not, by itself, a finding that the death was accidental, self-inflicted, or caused by another person. No public police statement connected the case to a crime, a dispute, a medical emergency, a structural failure, or the involvement of another person.
Several early social media posts claimed that the man fell from the 21st floor near an infinity pool at a hotel within the tower complex. Those details originated in online comments and secondary posts rather than the limited police confirmation made public. Police did not publicly verify the claimed floor or the alleged pool area, so those assertions cannot be treated as established facts.
The dashcam footage also does not establish motive or intent. It does not show whether the man slipped, climbed over a barrier, was pushed, or entered the open air from any particular part of the tower. The visible evidence begins after the fall is already underway. No interaction between the deceased and another person is visible in the circulated recording.
The video was recorded from inside a moving vehicle during daytime traffic. The man appears in the frame only briefly as he drops from above toward the area in front of the building. The camera angle documents the fall itself, not the events that preceded it or activity inside the tower.
Publicly available information did not provide details about the emergency response, the condition in which the man was found, the removal of his body, notification of relatives, or any witnesses who may have seen him inside the property. No publicly released statement described surveillance footage from the tower, access records, hotel records, or interviews with staff and occupants.
As of July 19, 2026, no subsequent public update disclosed the man’s identity, postmortem findings, toxicology results, or a final police determination. The latest confirmed status remained the sudden death classification announced by Wangsa Maju police.
