On the afternoon of January 11, a tram collision occurred near the central train station in Strasbourg, France, injuring more than 30 people. The accident occurred at an underground tram station, where a reversing tram violently collided with a parked tram, causing severe damage to both trains, smoke filling the platform and chaos at the scene. Police cordoned off the scene of the accident and ambulances and firefighters arrived quickly. Preliminary statistics show that the accident caused at least 30 injuries, and firefighters said the number of injured could reach 50, but none of them were seriously injured.
