A 6-year-old boarding school student died after being hit and run over by a car in Pamekasan Regency, East Java, Indonesia, on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

The child was identified as Muhammad Raka Ali Imron Ramadani. The crash happened at about 00:12:40 p.m. in front of Pondok Kecil Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata, in Palengaan District.

Police identified the driver as Ach Jailani, 22, a resident of Sana Tengah Village in Pasean District. The vehicle was described as a white car with license plate M 1916 AD.

Police said the child was crossing the road in front of the boarding school area when the white car approached from the east. He was struck and then run over by the vehicle.

Video footage connected to the case shows the child in the road area as the car passes over him. The footage confirms the fatal traffic accident. It does not establish the driver’s full field of view, exact speed, braking distance, or any intent.

The child suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

Residents tried to help him after the crash, but he did not survive. His body was later taken to the family home in Dusun Bata-bata, Panaan Village, Palengaan District.

Ipda Slamet Riyadi, head of traffic law enforcement at Pamekasan Police, confirmed the accident and said officers had gone to the crash site and the family home.

Police said the preliminary chronology indicated the driver was suspected of failing to pay attention to the traffic conditions ahead of him near the boarding school area.

Officers conducted a scene examination in front of Pondok Kecil Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata. Police also removed the white car as evidence and took it to the Pamekasan traffic accident unit.

Investigators also collected statements from witnesses near the scene.
