Three men were shot dead inside a house in Bezerros, in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, during the early hours of May 24, 2026. The victims were found in different rooms of the property in the Gameleira neighborhood.
Two bodies were discovered in the living room, while the third victim was found in a bedroom. Pernambuco Civil Police registered the killings as a completed triple homicide through the 14th Police Precinct in Caruaru.
The initial investigation established the age of one victim as 32, while the other two remained unidentified when the crime was first reported.
Subsequent reporting identified the oldest victim as Fábio Pereira de Freitas, 32, originally from Recife. His body was found in the bedroom.
A second victim was identified on May 28 as João Paulo Bezerra dos Santos, 18, following identification procedures at the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) in Caruaru.
João Paulo was originally from Camocim de São Félix and had reportedly been living in Bezerros for approximately two years.
The third victim's identity had not been officially confirmed in the subsequent reports reviewed.
Police detain suspect in Caruaru
The investigation produced a development on June 8, when officers from the Tactical Unit of Pernambuco Military Police's 4th Battalion detained a man suspected of involvement in the killings.
The operation took place in the Cidade Jardim neighborhood of Caruaru, approximately two weeks after the triple homicide.
According to the police account, officers received information about the suspect's whereabouts and began searching the area.
The man reportedly attempted to flee after noticing the patrol officers but was intercepted and searched.
Police recovered a .38-caliber revolver and 12 rounds of ammunition during the operation.
The suspect was taken to a police station for possession of an illegal firearm. He did not have an outstanding arrest warrant when officers located him.
A motorcycle found with the suspect was also presented to investigators. Police reported no outstanding restrictions involving the vehicle.
Suspect reportedly admitted involvement
Lieutenant Pedroza of the Military Police said the detained man admitted participating in the triple homicide and indicated that the killings were connected to drug trafficking.
That account represents information attributed to the police. Investigators had not publicly established the precise circumstances of the killings or confirmed whether other individuals participated.
Authorities also considered the possibility that the seized revolver had been used in the murders. Ballistic examination was required to determine whether the firearm could be linked to the evidence recovered from the crime scene.
The reported admission did not establish the suspect's guilt, and the firearm-related detention was separate from any eventual criminal proceedings concerning the three deaths.
The investigation remained under the responsibility of Pernambuco Civil Police, with detectives working to establish the full sequence of events and identify any additional participants.
