Torture of a 4-year-old girl in Uganda.

Kira County Police are investigating a case of aggravated torture involving a 4-year-old Tumwekweis Claire girl that occurred on the night of December 27, 2024 at approximately 00:1:00 a.m. According to Kampala Deputy Police Chief Luke Owoyesigire, the victim was tortured by a 35-year-old maid named Tumuhirwe Precious. “The suspect fled the scene after the incident, but was later detained, where she is currently in custody at the central police station. Measures are being taken to transport her to the Kira Police Department for further investigation”, Ovoyesigire said. The victim is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s father, 35-year-old Mwesigwa Michael, had been the primary caregiver of his children since he separated from their mother two years ago. The investigation into the incident and related circumstances is ongoing.
