MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Bystander video continues to shape the public debate over Wednesday’s fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in south Minneapolis by an ICE officer, as investigators work to reconcile conflicting official accounts and determine whether deadly force was justified.

The shooting occurred near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue South during heightened federal immigration enforcement activity in the Twin Cities. Federal officials described the shooting as self-defense, alleging the driver posed an immediate threat to officers with her vehicle. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he reviewed video of the incident and publicly rejected the federal characterization, arguing the footage does not match the government’s initial narrative.

In the clip shared by local outlets, agents converge on a maroon SUV stopped in the street. An officer appears to pull on the driver’s door handle.
