Truck cab collapses in violent rear-end crash near Hangzhou, China.

NEWS:

A commercial truck slammed into the rear of another heavy vehicle near Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, on May 7, 2026, in a violent collision recorded by road-facing and in-cab cameras.

The recording’s embedded data places the sequence shortly after 00:11:06 a.m. local time. The GPS coordinates shown during the approach correspond to the Hangzhou area, while the vehicle displays the registration plate 浙A37K77.

The footage begins with the truck traveling along a multilane roadway in daylight. Speed readings displayed by the onboard system range from approximately 70 to 78 kilometers per hour, or about 43 to 48 mph, during the approach to the crash site.

In the forward-facing view, a white passenger car moves across the roadway toward an exit area as traffic ahead begins to slow. The video records the car’s movement directly, but it does not establish the driver’s intentions or provide an official determination of responsibility.

The recording truck continues forward as the distance separating it from another heavy vehicle rapidly decreases. Its driver begins slowing, but the truck remains on a collision course with the vehicle ahead.

The front of the truck then crashes violently into the rear of the other vehicle. The impact destroys the available space at the front of the cab and drives the dashboard and steering area toward the driver.

The synchronized interior camera captures the driver being thrown forward at the moment of impact. The steering wheel and surrounding structure are forced back against his upper body as the front section of the cab folds inward.

The collision abruptly stops the truck. Later frames in the recording show the onboard speed display at zero and the vehicle remaining stationary at coordinates approximately 30.347965 north and 120.235288 east.

The video confirms the rear-end collision, the major deformation of the cab and the driver’s violent contact with the steering area. It does not show a rescue operation, emergency personnel arriving or the driver being removed from the wreckage.

Captions attached to online reposts claimed that the steering wheel crushed the driver’s chest. The footage shows severe pressure against his upper body, but it cannot establish the specific internal injuries he suffered.

No publicly accessible police report, fire department statement, hospital update or government notice was located confirming whether the driver survived. Reports of death, a crushed chest or other specific medical consequences therefore remain unverified.

The recording also does not prove that the driver was asleep, distracted, fatigued, using a phone or impaired before the impact. Although his reaction was not sufficient to prevent the crash, the video alone cannot establish why he failed to stop in time.

No verified official finding was located identifying which driver was legally responsible, whether traffic citations were issued or whether investigators attributed the collision to an unsafe lane change, inadequate following distance, excessive speed, mechanical failure or another factor.
