Man cut in half after slipping under moving train at Ratlam station, India.
NEWS:
A man died after slipping under a moving train at Ratlam railway station in Madhya Pradesh, India, on Friday, April 11, 2026.
The accident happened around 00:2:35 p.m. on platform 4 as the Golden Temple Mail, train number 12904, was leaving the station. The victim was identified by police and local reports as Daud Ayaz Beg, a man originally from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, who had been living with his family in the Mumbra area of Thane, Maharashtra.
The CCTV footage shows the man trying to board the train after it had already started moving. He loses balance at the doorway area, slips into the gap between the platform and the train, and is pulled down toward the track. The video confirms the fall and the fatal movement under the train. It does not show any assault, push or outside interference.
Police said the man was returning from Delhi and heading toward Mumbai. Local reporting said he worked in catering and event management.
RPF and railway staff reached the platform after the accident. The station master and platform duty staff were present when officers inspected the scene. After the train was halted and later cleared to move, the body was found on the track in two parts.
The victim was identified through an Aadhaar card recovered from his belongings. Police also found a mobile phone. A trolley bag and another bag were recovered from the platform after passengers pointed them out.
Inside the bags, police found clothes, the Aadhaar card and about 400,000 rupees in cash. The source of the cash was not officially confirmed in the available police record. One later report, citing family members, said the money was connected to property sold in his village, but that detail should be treated as a family-linked report, not a confirmed official finding.
There is a discrepancy in the open reporting about whether the victim had a train ticket. The initial account and multiple later reports said no travel ticket was found among his belongings. One later report said a ticket from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Bandra was recovered. No official document found in open sources resolved that contradiction.
There is also a discrepancy in the reported age. The initial account and one later report identified him as 40 years old. Other reports listed him as 38. The name, place of origin, connection to Thane and circumstances of the accident were consistent across the main reports.
GRP personnel removed the body from the track and sent it for post-mortem examination. Police registered a death case and began an inquiry.
According to the GRP account cited in local reporting, the CCTV review indicated that the accident happened because the victim attempted to board a moving train. No evidence found in the available reporting indicated that another person pushed him or that a criminal act caused the fall.
The body was handed over to family members after the post-mortem examination at the medical college on Saturday.
Indian Railways safety guidance warns passengers not to board or get off a train while it is moving. The Ratlam footage shows the specific danger of that act: one missed step at the door left the man trapped between the platform and the moving train within seconds.
