Security camera footage captured a violent attempted robbery inside a supermarket in Anajás, in Brazil’s Marajó region, where employees fought back with machetes and stopped two suspects during the crime.
The robbery happened at about 00:2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The video shows two people entering the supermarket and taking control of part of the staff. One of them moves toward the back of the store, while the other heads toward the cashier area.
As the robbery unfolds, a worker appears holding a machete and strikes one of the suspects in the arm. The wounded suspect then tries to run from the area. The footage shows the confrontation happening inside the store as employees react during the attempted robbery.
The suspect wounded in the arm was identified in the case as a teenager. After being apprehended, he was taken for medical treatment at the Regional Hospital in Breves.
The second suspect, identified as an adult, was restrained inside the store by employees who were also holding machetes. Police were called to the supermarket and arrested the adult suspect.
Civil Police said the Anajás police station is handling the case. Witnesses were being heard to support the investigation into the attempted robbery and the sequence of events inside the business.
The footage directly shows the robbery attempt, the employees’ armed reaction, the machete strike to the suspect’s arm and the restraint of the other suspect inside the store. No confirmed information was released about whether money or merchandise was taken before the suspects were stopped.
