Motorcyclist killed in collision with turning truck on K-12 near Novosibirsk, Russia.

NEWS:

A 57-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with a truck on the K-12 highway in the Novosibirsk District of Russia on May 16, 2026, with surveillance footage later showing the moment of impact.

Regional traffic police said the crash occurred at about 8 a.m. on the 14th kilometer of the K-12 road. A 34-year-old man was driving a GAZ-33106 truck from the direction of the work settlement of Kolyvan toward Novosibirsk.

Police said the truck reached an uncontrolled intersection and began turning left. At the same time, the 57-year-old rider was traveling in the same direction on a Racer motorcycle and was overtaking the truck.

The motorcycle and truck collided during the maneuver.

Video of the crash that became public two days later records the collision directly. The footage shows the truck moving into a left turn as the motorcycle approaches alongside it during the overtaking maneuver. The motorcycle strikes the truck, and the force of the collision throws the rider into the air before he falls onto the roadway.

The video establishes the physical sequence visible at the moment of impact. It does not, by itself, establish legal responsibility for the crash or show what either driver could see before the collision.

Regional traffic police initially described the motorcycle as overtaking the GAZ-33106 when the vehicles collided at the intersection. Authorities did not publicly identify either driver by name in the information reviewed for this report.

The motorcyclist suffered severe injuries. Emergency personnel transported him from the crash scene to a hospital, where he died several hours later despite medical treatment.

Police were working at the scene after the collision to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash. The initial information released by regional traffic authorities did not announce an arrest, criminal charge or final determination of fault.

No subsequent reliable public update located by publication time established that either driver had been criminally charged or that investigators had issued a final legal finding assigning responsibility for the fatal collision.

The crash occurred on a section of K-12 outside Novosibirsk as the truck was traveling toward the city from Kolyvan. The vehicles involved were identified as a GAZ-33106 truck and a Racer motorcycle.

The surveillance recording provides a direct visual record of the collision itself, including the left-turn movement of the truck, the motorcycle passing alongside it and the rider being thrown from the motorcycle after impact. Details concerning any possible traffic violations, visibility conditions, speed calculations or other contributing factors were not established in the publicly available information reviewed for this report.
