Teen passenger is run over and killed after motorcycle tries to pass truck in Kuningan, Indonesia.
NEWS:
A 17-year-old motorcycle passenger was run over and killed in Kuningan, Indonesia, after the bike he was riding on tried to pass a truck on a roadway in Sindangagung. The crash happened on April 1 at about 00:1:30 p.m. on Jalan Raya Sindangagung. The victim died at the scene. The truck driver initially fled, but police later tracked him down in less than three hours.
The video tied to the case is treated here as proof of the crash itself, in line with your instruction. The footage shows the motorcycle moving alongside the truck during the overtaking attempt, followed by the passenger falling to the roadway and ending up under the truck. That part is not being treated as speculation. The visual record establishes the fatal collision. What the video does not establish by itself is the driver’s identity, the full legal finding on fault, or what happened after the truck left the scene.
According to the public reporting reviewed for this article, the motorcycle was a Yamaha Xeon being ridden by HN, 24, a resident of Sumurwiru village in Cibeureum district. The victim, identified by initials MF, was riding as a passenger. The two were described as siblings traveling toward Kuningan when the crash happened. Police statements quoted in the reporting said the motorcycle attempted to pass a Mitsubishi Colt Diesel Canter truck that was traveling ahead of it on the same route.
The key sequence described by police and reflected in the reports is consistent across the initial coverage. As the motorcycle moved to overtake the truck, MF lost balance or was thrown off and fell to the left side of the road. He was then run over by the truck he was trying to pass. He suffered catastrophic head trauma and multiple fractures and was pronounced dead at the scene. HN, the rider, reportedly escaped without physical injuries.
The early version of the case stopped there, with the truck driver unidentified and on the run. Police at that stage said they had begun processing the scene, collecting evidence and examining witnesses. The road was reported to be in good condition, the weather was clear, and traffic was light at the time of the crash. Those details matter because they narrow the likely cause to the overtaking maneuver and the immediate dynamics between the motorcycle and the truck, rather than rain, heavy traffic or obvious roadway failure.
The second pass of reporting produced the major development. By April 2, police said the driver had already been found. Officers from the traffic law enforcement unit reviewed CCTV footage along the route, identified the truck as a green-turquoise Mitsubishi Colt Diesel Canter with registration number Z-8130-VC, and traced its movement through Cikaso and nearby areas. The search then continued to Oleced in Lebakwangi, where police stopped the vehicle while it was still moving in the direction of Luragung.
Police later identified the driver as YT, 48, from Cibingbin district. Reports on the follow-up said the truck had briefly stopped earlier at a feed distribution point before continuing on. When officers inspected the vehicle, they reportedly found blood stains and pieces of the victim’s tissue on the underside of the truck. That later detail is significant because it directly tied the vehicle recovered by police to the fatal impact seen in the video and described in the original reporting.
The case also shifted from a crash story to a hit-and-run investigation. According to statements attributed to traffic investigator IPTU Sri Martini, leaving the scene without stopping to help the victim was treated as a serious violation that could worsen the legal consequences for the driver. The later reporting said YT had been taken to the Unit Gakkum Satlantas Polres Kuningan for further legal processing. No later public report reviewed here gave a final court outcome or detailed charging record beyond that stage.
That means the narrowest and most accurate summary is also the strongest one. A teenage passenger died after falling during an overtaking attempt and being run over by a truck in Sindangagung, Kuningan. The video proves the fatal collision itself. The driver did not stop after the crash. Within hours, police used CCTV and route tracing to identify the truck, locate the driver and place him into the legal process.
The later police action is important because it changes how the case ends in public. It was not left as an unresolved fatal roadside death with an unknown truck disappearing into traffic. By the next day, the driver had already been named in public reporting, the truck had been recovered, and police had described a concrete evidence trail linking the vehicle to the teen’s death.
