Five masked gunmen killed a 36-year-old man and a 17-year-old teenager during a double homicide in Maceió, Brazil, according to police information released after the attack.
The shooting happened on Wednesday night, April 15, in the Grota dos Macacos area of the São Jorge neighborhood. The victims were identified by police reports as Jhonathan Talys Silvestre Morais da Silva, 36, and Vanderson Gabriel da Silva Santos, 17.
The video tied to the case shows the armed attack as it happens. It confirms the violent act itself, but it does not establish the motive, identify all of the attackers or show the full sequence of events before the gunmen entered the location.
According to the Civil Police, five masked men entered a residence and opened fire. Witnesses told investigators that the attackers ordered other people who were inside the property to leave before the shooting.
Military Police information cited in local reports gives a more detailed account of the injuries. Vanderson was shot five times, four times in the head and once in the clavicle. Jhonathan was shot twice in the head. Both died before medical help could reach them.
A witness described as the wife of one of the victims told police that the two were inside a vila when the masked group entered and fired several shots. After the attack, the gunmen fled. Police did not publicly identify any suspect in the initial information reviewed.
The Military Police also reported that Jhonathan had prior criminal records for drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm. Police did not state that those records were the motive for the killing, and the reason for the double homicide has not been confirmed.
The crime scene was handled by police and forensic authorities after the shooting. The Institute of Criminalistics was called for forensic work at the location, and the bodies were sent to the Estácio de Lima Medical Legal Institute in the Tabuleiro do Martins area.
The Civil Police said the case is under the responsibility of the Homicide and Personal Protection Division. Initial work at the scene was carried out through the Crime Scene Response Unit 1. Investigators were still working to identify the attackers and determine the motive in the official information available.
