Motorcyclist killed in car collision at Itaituba intersection, Brazil.

NEWS:

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a motorcycle carrying two young men collided with a car at an intersection in Itaituba, in Brazil’s northern state of Pará, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The victim was identified as Yzequiel Silva Rosa. The crash occurred during the afternoon at the intersection of 33rd Street and Travessa São José.

Security camera footage records the motorcycle approaching the intersection with two people aboard. The motorcycle and the passenger vehicle collide in the crossing, and the force of the impact throws both riders from the bike and onto the roadway.

The recording directly establishes the collision and shows both occupants being violently ejected from the motorcycle. It does not establish which vehicle had the right of way, whether a traffic light was red or green, the vehicles’ exact speeds or whether either driver committed a traffic violation.

Yzequiel suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The second young man who was riding on the motorcycle survived the initial impact and was taken for medical treatment.

Early accounts differed over which of the two young men was operating the motorcycle. Police later stated that Yzequiel was the motorcycle’s driver and that the survivor was the passenger riding behind him.

Another recording made after the collision shows residents assisting one of the victims. The front section of the car was heavily damaged, while the motorcycle was thrown away from the immediate point of impact.

Police said the driver of the car remained at the scene and provided assistance to the victims. He was taken to a police station, questioned about the collision and released.

No arrest was made. Police said the decision was based on the driver remaining at the location and providing aid, in accordance with the applicable provisions of Brazil’s Traffic Code for drivers who assist victims after a crash.

The Itaituba Civil Police division opened a formal inquiry to determine the circumstances of the fatal collision. Investigators began reviewing the security camera recordings and requested forensic examinations to support the reconstruction of the crash.

Publicly circulated accounts offered conflicting claims about the moments before the impact. Some alleged that the motorcycle entered the intersection against a red light. Others claimed that the car entered the motorcycle’s path or failed to respect its right of way.

Neither version was confirmed in the police statement. No publicly released forensic report established which vehicle had legal priority, whether either driver crossed against a traffic signal or whether speed contributed to the collision.

The camera angle documents the impact but does not provide a complete view of every traffic signal or road sign governing the intersection. The footage therefore cannot independently resolve the disputed right-of-way claims.

Police did not publicly identify the driver of the car or the surviving motorcycle passenger. The authorities also did not disclose whether the car driver suffered injuries.

As of the morning after the crash, no official information had been released about the passenger’s precise injuries, medical condition or hospital treatment. No later verified public update located through July 15 disclosed whether he remained hospitalized or had been discharged.

Authorities had also not publicly released the results of the requested forensic examinations, announced the conclusion of the police inquiry or confirmed that criminal charges had been filed against either surviving person involved in the collision.

The confirmed evidence establishes that Yzequiel was driving the motorcycle, another young man was riding behind him, both were thrown during the collision and Yzequiel died at the scene. The driver of the car remained, assisted the victims, gave a statement to police and was released while investigators examined the recordings and requested forensic analysis.
