Gunmen kill man and wound woman in Salvador, Brazil.

NEWS:

A 40-year-old man was shot dead and a woman was wounded when multiple attackers opened fire in the Fazenda Grande III neighborhood of Salvador, Brazil, early Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The man was identified by Civil Police as Flávio Santana Jaqueira. An official security bulletin recorded the homicide at 00:5:06 a.m. in the Vila Vitória area, near a gas station.

Video footage published with this report records the shooting itself and shows the violent attack against the victim. The images establish that gunfire was directed at him and that he was struck. The recording does not establish what happened before the attack, the identities of the shooters or the reason he was targeted.

Initial information attributed to investigators indicates that a group of men fired at Jaqueira. A woman was also hit during the attack, but authorities did not release her identity, specify where she was wounded or provide an update on her medical condition.

Military Police officers from the 22nd Battalion were dispatched after receiving a report of gunshots in Vila Vitória. When the officers arrived, they found Jaqueira lying on the ground with gunshot wounds and no signs of life.

The area was secured for forensic work. The Bahia Department of Technical Police was called to examine the scene and remove the body. Police issued the required forensic examination and body-removal documents.

The first report published on the morning of the killing did not identify Jaqueira and did not mention the wounded woman. Additional information released later that day identified the dead man, confirmed his age and disclosed that a second person had been struck by the gunfire.

The official bulletin from the Bahia Public Security Department also listed the victim as unidentified when it was published. The later identification attributed to Civil Police represents the main confirmed update after the first account of the homicide.

The case was registered with the Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons. The investigation was assigned to the 2nd Homicide Division, which began working to identify the gunmen and determine the motive.

Police said patrols were reinforced in the area after the shooting. No publicly announced arrest or suspect identification had been located as of June 13.

Authorities also had not publicly disclosed whether investigators recovered a firearm, shell casings, a vehicle or other physical evidence connected to the attackers. No forensic report or autopsy result had been released.

The video confirms the fatal shooting but does not establish the full sequence surrounding it. It cannot independently determine whether the attackers followed Jaqueira, waited for him at the location or arrived immediately before opening fire.

The woman’s presence and injuries were reported by police after the attack. The publicly available information does not clarify whether she was accompanying Jaqueira, passing through the area or standing nearby when the shots were fired.

Reports published outside official police channels later alleged that the killing was connected to a conflict between criminal factions. Authorities had not publicly confirmed that account, and no verified evidence establishing a gang-related motive was released.

The facts confirmed through the official record, police statements and the video are limited to the fatal shooting of Jaqueira, the gunshot injury suffered by a woman, the early-morning location in Vila Vitória and the opening of a homicide investigation.
