Gunmen chase and kill man outside his father’s home in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, Brazil.
NEWS:
A 33-year-old man was chased and shot to death outside his father’s home in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, Pernambuco, Brazil, on Friday, May 8, 2026.
The victim was identified as Itamar Alves da Silva. The fatal shooting occurred on Rua Maria Eunice Chagas in the Bela Vista neighborhood during the afternoon.
Surveillance footage recorded the attack. The video shows Itamar leaving the property and approaching a motorcycle parked outside the residence.
A white vehicle arrives moments later. Two men get out and immediately move toward the victim.
The gunmen open fire as Itamar runs away from the motorcycle. He tries to escape along the street while the attackers pursue him and continue shooting.
Itamar reaches the sidewalk in front of the property but collapses after being struck. The gunmen return toward the vehicle and leave the area.
The footage directly confirms that two men participated in the attack, that they arrived in a white vehicle and that they chased the victim while firing multiple shots. It does not establish their identities, their relationship with Itamar or the reason he was targeted.
Initial information indicated that Itamar had visited his father and was preparing to leave on the motorcycle when the attackers arrived. His father was reportedly near the residence when the shooting occurred.
Itamar died on the sidewalk before he could be transported for emergency treatment. No other person was reported wounded during the attack.
Officers from the 24th Military Police Battalion secured the area after the shooting. The street was isolated so forensic personnel could examine the scene and collect evidence.
The Scientific Police processed the location. Investigators documented the position of the body and searched the street for ballistic material and other evidence connected to the gunmen and the vehicle.
The victim’s body was transported to the Forensic Medical Institute for examination.
Residents said they could not provide reliable information about the attackers or a possible motive immediately after the killing. No confirmed dispute, threat, criminal connection or personal conflict was disclosed in the initial investigation.
The Police Civil opened a homicide investigation and began reviewing surveillance footage from the neighborhood. The recording provided investigators with images of the vehicle, the two attackers and the sequence of the fatal shooting.
In a later development, police arrested two men, ages 25 and 22, who were reportedly being investigated for possible involvement in several homicides committed in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe.
Police information linked the investigation involving the two men to the killings of Itamar and another local victim. Authorities did not publicly disclose the specific evidence allegedly connecting each suspect to the shooting shown in the video.
The arrests did not by themselves establish that the detained men were the gunmen recorded outside the residence. No publicly available update confirmed that prosecutors had filed murder charges against them in Itamar’s case.
Authorities also did not publicly announce whether investigators believed both men were inside the white vehicle, whether either suspect fired the shots or whether other participants remained unidentified.
No verified motive had been disclosed in the latest information available. Claims involving revenge, organized crime, drug trafficking or a personal dispute were not included because they were not supported by a publicly accessible investigative finding.
The footage remains the clearest evidence of the physical sequence of the crime. It records the vehicle arriving, two men confronting Itamar, the victim running, the gunmen pursuing him and the attackers leaving after he falls.
