Woman dies after being struck by commuter train in Pasuruan, Indonesia.

NEWS:

A 26-year-old woman died after being struck by a commuter train in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, Indonesia, on Monday, April 6, 2026, police said.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. local time on the Porong-Bangil rail section at Km 40+900, near a crossing in Desa Gununggansir, Kecamatan Beji. Police identified the woman by the initials AA and said she was a resident of Desa Wonokoyo, also in Beji.

The video published with this article shows a woman on the rail line before the train reaches the crossing. The footage confirms the fatal train strike itself. It does not independently prove her motive, mental state, background, or the full sequence before the moment shown.

Police said the train involved was a Commuter Line Supas service traveling from the Surabaya area toward Probolinggo. The locomotive number was reported as CC2061308.

According to police statements cited in the investigation, witnesses said the woman had been walking near the tracks before the train approached. Police said witness accounts indicated that she then lay across the rail line as the train came close.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency and police personnel later handled the location, secured the rail area, and evacuated the body by ambulance to Bhayangkara Pusdik Brimob Hospital in Watukosek, Gempol.

Police initially had difficulty confirming the woman’s identity because no identity card was found with her at the scene, according to local reporting. Investigators later identified her through follow-up examination and fingerprint checks.

The case was handled by Beji police officers, with crime-scene personnel from Pasuruan Police also responding. One police account said the report was received around 00:2:48 a.m., while other reports placed the incident at about 3 a.m.

The incident disrupted rail operations on the route. Two trains were reported delayed during the response, including the Commuter Line Supas service and the KA Mutiara Timur.

Police said the death was suspected to be a self-inflicted act based on witness accounts, but the exact cause and motive remained under examination. Available reports did not confirm a final investigative finding beyond the police description of the event and the witness statements.

A later police outreach report said officers from the Pasuruan Police community guidance unit visited the family home in Wonokoyo after the incident and provided assistance to the victim’s relatives.
