A 14-year-old boy died after falling from a balcony while filming social media reels in Hyderabad, India.
The boy was identified in local reporting as Mithun. He lived in the Mallapur area of Hyderabad, in Telangana state. Police-attributed reporting said the fall happened on April 5 in Old Mallapur while he was at a friend’s house.
The published video shows the boy on a balcony railing during the recording of a social media clip. He loses balance and falls from the balcony. The footage establishes the fall itself, but it does not establish his intent, the exact sequence before the recording began, or whether anyone else contributed to the fall.
According to a police-attributed account, the group had decided to film a reel, and Mithun climbed onto the railing while friends stood below and recorded him. He slipped from the railing and fell, suffering severe head injuries.
He was taken to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, according to that same account. He died while receiving treatment. Available reports differ on the exact date of death: one police-attributed account said he died on April 19, while another local report published on April 22 said he died the previous day.
