A woman takes several sips from a machete in Brazil and agonizes on the floor in an attempt at murder and femicide.

“This Monday morning (31/05) a woman was the victim of an attempted femicide, in the Vila Rosa neighborhood, in Charqueadas, in the Carboniferous region of RS. The 51-year-old victim was stabbed. Referred to Hospital Vila Nova, she had to be transferred to Hospital de Pronto Socorro in Porto Alegre, due to the severity of the injuries.
The suspect is a 25-year-old ex-boyfriend. According to Police Chief Marco Schalmes, the crime occurred around 8:00 am and there is a possibility that the accused had attempted suicide by jumping off the bridge over the Arroio dos Ratos, on the ERS-401, close to the city’s prison complex.
The Military Fire Department was activated and the Special Search and Rescue Company (CEBS) searched the site, but the body was not found. The searches were ended in the late afternoon of today and will resume on Tuesday morning (1st/06).”
